"My advice to current students is to try getting outside of your comfort zone because you never know what you could be missing out on if you don't expand your horizons. Your time at USD is limited, so cherish every moment you have there because you will spend the next several years after graduation wishing you could go back."

Q&A with Matt:

Describe your current educational or professional pursuits.

I'm currently employed at the Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau where I work as the communications manager. A few of my duties include managing content for our website and mobile app, as well as managing our social media channels.

How did your USD experience influence your career path?

At USD I learned that the sky is the limit when it comes to my career path after graduation. My professors taught me to not focus on the salary, but rather find a career that I enjoy. I found interest in marketing halfway through my time at USD, and I am now blessed to be able to call myself a marketer professionally.

Tell us about your proudest achievement.

My proudest achievement was being awarded as the Connie Cup winner within Tau Kappa Epsilon my senior year. In our fraternity, being selected as a Connie Cup winner is equivalent to the fraternity's MVP award for an individual's dedication and positive impact on the members and fraternity as a whole.

What was your USD experience like? Were you involved in any campus organizations or activities?

I absolutely loved my time at USD, and if I had the opportunity to do it again I wouldn't change a thing. I met lifelong friends and had experiences that I would have never imagined upon arriving at USD on my first day. My education challenged me in a way that made me think outside the box but still allowed me to enjoy the many things I was learning. I joined Greek Life my freshman year, where I became a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon which gave me memories of a lifetime. Many of my closest friends today stemmed from Greek Life.
