Dr. Richard Holm – Professional Achievement

Richard Holm Dr. Richard Holm graduated from USD in 1971 with a degree in biology (botany) and in 1973 with a master’s in medicine. While at USD, he was involved in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After completing the first two years of medical school here, he finished medical school at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He remains highly involved with the USD Sanford School of Medicine through his time mentoring USD students and with his financial support of the School of Medicine. Dr. Holm has over 36 years of practicing medicine in South Dakota. Along with being an M.D. at Avera Medical Group, Brookings, Dr. Holm has served as the host for 16 seasons of “On the Call with Prairie Doc” on SDPB, writes 

weekly columns for 57 South Dakota newspapers and is president of the Healing Words Foundation, an organization he started with his wife to promote wellness and medical literacy.
