Vermillion, S.D. - The University of South Dakota will join South Dakota's public universities in the inaugural 605 Day: Funding Futures with Scholarships - a new statewide effort held annually on June 5 to celebrate South Dakota pride and raise essential scholarship support for students.

Inspired by South Dakota's single area code, 605 Day aims to unite alumni, donors and supporters across the state and beyond in a collective show of support for students pursuing higher education in South Dakota. Contributions made to USD during the campaign will directly benefit scholarships, creating opportunities for current and future Coyotes to access life-changing educational opportunities, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college.

"This campaign is about pride, purpose and people," said Noah Shepard, president and CEO of the University of South Dakota Foundation & Alumni Association. "Every gift - no matter the size - helps remove financial barriers and opens doors for students who are ready to lead, serve and make a difference. When you give to USD, you're investing in something bigger than yourself."

The campaign will use the official hashtag #605ForScholarships across the USD Foundation's Facebook page and Instagram account. Throughout the day, the USD Foundation will share stories of student success, highlight donor impact and invite supporters to participate in building a brighter future for South Dakota through education.

"We are proud to be part of this collaborative effort to grow scholarship support and increase affordability for South Dakota students," said Shepard. "605 Day is a chance for the entire USD community to come together and make a lasting impact."
