Hybrid | This is a hybrid position and the candidate must have the ability to work from home and also be able to regularly participate in on-campus meetings, donor visits, team meetings and in-office work as needed. Because of the in-person component, candidates should be based within reasonable driving distance of Vermillion or Sioux Falls.

Position Overview

The University of South Dakota Foundation & Alumni Association is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven fundraiser to join our team as the Director of Development - College of Arts & Sciences.

This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in advancing the college by connecting alumni, donors and friends of USD to philanthropic opportunities that support students, faculty, programs and strategic priorities across the college.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development - Academic Units, this role will serve as the lead fundraising partner for the College of Arts & Sciences. The director will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects.

 
What You'll Do
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.
  • Develop and execute personalized strategies to secure philanthropic support.
  • Engage alumni, donors and friends of USD through meaningful visits and interactions.
  • Partner with the dean, faculty, university leaders and campus colleagues to align donor interests with college priorities.
  • Represent the foundation and the College of Arts & Sciences at university, alumni, donor and community events.
  • Support alumni and constituent engagement opportunities that strengthen long-term relationships.
  • Help build a strong pipeline of future support for the college and university.

  • Proven ability to build relationships and move conversations toward meaningful outcomes.
  • Strong communication, organization and follow-through.
  • Experience in fundraising, development, sales, relationship management or a related field.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to donor-centric service.

  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally and nationally.
