Arts & Sciences Pillars of Distinction Nominations
Recognizing Exceptional Partners
The Pillars of Distinction are awarded annually to exceptional members of the College of Arts & Sciences community who uphold our mission to offer a world-class education in the liberal arts and sciences, create and disseminate knowledge, and serve the people of South Dakota, the nation and the world.
The nomination window will be open from May 25 through June 30. The awards ceremony will take place on Nov. 13 from 6–9 p.m. in the Muenster University Center Ballroom.
Pillar of Service
This award recognizes those who have made an impact on their local community, state or nation through a commitment to such values as philanthropy, democracy, mentorship and public service.
Pillar of Leadership
This award acknowledges individuals who have provided extraordinary vision and leadership in a particular field, profession or organization.
Pillar of Discovery
This award recognizes those who have pioneered new ideas, expanded the frontiers of knowledge and understanding, or produced innovative solutions.
Pillar of Enlightenment
This award celebrates educators, thought leaders, creators and communicators whose work has deepened collective understanding, enriched public life and fostered critical thinking, cultural awareness or intellectual curiosity.
Hall of Fame
The USD College of Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame celebrates those whose legacies have paved the way for future generations in Arts and Sciences. The College of Arts and Sciences has been shaped by an extraordinary group of individuals whose enduring legacies reflect their commitment to the role of liberal arts in public life, from pioneering discoveries in physics and medicine to groundbreaking work in journalism, public service and humanities, these influential figures set a standard of excellence that continues to inspire us.
